Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approves DSS Research to administer the OAS CAHPS® Survey
Fort Worth, Texas - February 1, 2016 – Beginning in 2016 Medicare certified hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) are encouraged to begin voluntary participation in the Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery CAHPS survey. Interested HOPDs and ASCs must partner with a CMS approved survey administrator, like DSS Research, to conduct the survey.
The OAS CAHPS® survey is a monthly satisfaction survey that measures patients’ experiences on topics that are important when choosing a place for an outpatient surgery or procedure such as:
- Communication and care provided by health care providers and office staff;
- Preparation for the surgery or procedure;
- Post-surgical care coordination; and
- Patient-reported outcomes.
Public reporting of the survey results will begin in 2018 on the CMS website with comparable state and national averages available.
“Our participation in the program is a reflection of our commitment to assisting our clients in improving patient experience. We are excited about the program and will be working with OAS centers to help them meet the requirements of the program and improve the services they provide to their patients. Our analytical and reporting options give our clients online access to their data and many reporting options to help provide quality improvement guidance,” said Roger Gates, Ph.D., DSS Research president and CEO.
